Sydney City Farm – Australia

See the complete 72 page Feasibility Study here.

The City is currently undertaking the planning of a new City Farm which will be a destination for food production and sustainable living in the heart of Sydney.

Excerpts from the City of Sydney website:

The two proposed sites for the City Farm are the disused Powerhouse Museum car park, Ultimo and Sydney Park, St Peters.

Hundreds of community members turned out to a City Farm Community Day at Sydney Park in St Peters on Saturday 28 July 2012 to get a taste of the proposed City Farm, including gardening activities and a small animal farm. Visitors also gave the City their ideas on their aspirations and programs for the City Farm.

On 7 November 2011 Council unanimously endorsed the Sydney City Farm Feasibility Study and resolved the following:

City staff draft a Memorandum of Understanding with the Powerhouse Museum to jointly fund and develop the project

Establish a City Farm Advisory Group to oversee the development of the project, comprising two representatives each from the City and the Powerhouse Museum and four community representatives

Commence an Expression of Interest process to select community representatives to be members of the City Farm Advisory Group

Employ a project manager to prepare a business plan and project master plan to be reported back to Council for approval.

A Project Manager was appointed in May 2012 and further work on the business plan is now underway.
