New Zealand: New little farm on the block situated on the fringe of inner city New Plymouth

Over the past six months Kati and Carl Freeman have transformed their Frankleigh Park piece of dirt into a flourishing urban farm that produces spray-free fruit and vegetables.

Carl is Melbourne born and bred, his green-thumbed organic expertise was gained from working on organic vegetable farms, supplying artisan salad mixes, heirloom tomatoes and baby vegetables to some of Melbourne’s top restaurants.

“I’m really enjoying living in Taranaki. Everyone has been so supportive of our growing enterprise,” said Carl.

Artisan salad mixes and gourmet fresh vegetables are the creme of their crops and the couple hope to reap greater rewards from the fruits of their labour by selling their produce at the Taranaki Farmers Market in Huatoki Plaza on a Sundays.

“We’re looking forward to showing people what we’ve been growing in our backyard and to expanding our range of produce over time,” Carl said.
