Wood Material

Most of our work is crafted from western red and yellow cedar. The natural strength and self-protective properties of cedar helps provide a quality product that is well worth the time that goes into carefully hand-crafting each garden. We respect the trees we source and build our boxes to last as long as the tree took to grow them.

Osmo Stain

A natural and environmentally friendly product for wood finishing, and one of our few non-local components – we chose to use this imported stain from Germany, as it is made from rapidly renewable, natural vegetable oils that penetrate deeply into the wood, keeping it elastic and healthy, while preventing drying. The wood is allowed to breathe which means it is naturally protected, moisture can evaporate whilst the surface is very water resistant – water tightly beads on the surface.

Waterproof FS Liner

Each LifeSpace garden contains an intricately folded FS Liner within that protects the garden from inside out. The Food Safe material made from virgin polypropylene functions as a barrier to contain water hidden in the reservoir while also protecting the cedar wood from moisture and soil, thus further preventing rot and increasing the longevity in each garden.
